On February 14th, amidst the spirit of the widely commemorated Valentine’s Day, members of LinkCC and the broader community came together to offer assistance and supplies to fellow citizens suffering in various regions of China. A substantial number of Chinese residents have now been unable to enjoy the pleasures of this annual holiday as well as the many months that follow due to the novel coronavirus epidemic.
LinkCC’s continuous efforts look to relieve this reality even if that means simply showing those suffering that we care and we are with them through the wake of this tragedy. Nevertheless, through the generous donations of sponsors from local communities, our company was able to extend its aid through boxes of medical equipment. In Canada, where medical supplies are fairly scarce, children split up to find medical supplies, and eventually raised nearly 10,000 yuan which was put towards 1500 Double medical gloves, 180 sets of protective clothing, 120 N95 masks, and 9 buckets of disinfection wipes, which will be mailed to the Karamay city overseas Chinese Federation and donated to Karamay City Center Hospital. Our team spent several hours loading the shipments from medical warehouses to shipment centers for direct transportation to hospitals and medical centers in China.
Emily, Mina, Bolo along with other youth helpers as part of the Canadian youth non-profit organization of LinkCC and the sponsorship of Jiahua Xuanyuan Culture and Education (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. to create the success of this project. The children set up a spot in Hospital-Karamay Central where the donations would be received.
For many weeks, our company has been gathering donations to fund these supplies, making these results possible only through the kindness of a collective. To those who played any role in raising these funds, we thank you. To those who spent their days coordinating this project, your input is greatly valued. And of course, to all those affected by these unfortunate circumstances, we wish you the best of luck and hope you know that we are fighting alongside you.
Calgary and Karamay are both world-renowned oil cities. Karamay and notable locations in China were introduced to Calgary residents through former Chinese citizen, Bolo. The children were fascinated by what major oil-producing cities were like on the other side of the world. Inevitably, the coronavirus epidemic has deeply affected the hearts of countless children, so through the initiation of Emily, Mina, and Bolo many youth members joined, and they raised funds. Each of these children has worked hard and learned a lot from this experience. The long run mission for the children is the hope the two major oil cities will be “connected to each other and overcome the difficulties together”.
