Four years ago, we had the vision to build a welcoming society for immigrants to be integrated into our community, thus Link CC was born. We were optimistic in providing support to those who were struggling in this complex and often difficult stage of life, made worse by culture gaps and foreign ways of life. This vision of ours outdid itself. We held cultural exchanges to engage and learn from one another, informative sessions on topics of importance in Canadian life, and opportunities for newcomers to connect with and discover the unknown world around them. However, even on familiar ground, the world outside persisted on changing each day, driving and reminding us that our work was not done. And if this was the case, we knew that we could not stop there.
For the last few months, our team has been kept busy making newer and bigger improvements to what we as a group aspire to become. The ultimate verdict seemed to be right in front of us the entire time; focusing on the perspectives, ideas, experiences, knowledge, and actions of young people. Already, we have extended across five different continents(with more chapters underway), held youth-to-youth forums to inform and empower young people, and worked to revitalize the power of the rising generation. As we enter this new stage of our organization, we have every intention to uphold our founding values of togetherness and involvement while standing for the potential of youth. We vow to commit to youth in every quarter of the globe, and our newly rebranded name ‘nowYouth’ will reflect that commitment in all that we do.
